Monika Sethi (Principal)
Monika Sethi is a seasoned educator with a career spanning over two decades, marked by a diverse range of experiences and a relentless dedication to serving students with special educational needs and disabilities. Having lived and worked in three continents, her global perspective and cultural sensitivity have shaped her approach to education, making her a truly well-rounded and adaptable professional.
Monika’s journey in education has seen her transition from being a mathematics teacher to taking on various leadership roles in mainstream schools and then being a Principal of two independent SEND schools. Her passion for inclusive education and her unwavering commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs have been evident throughout her career. Her passion in special education, coupled with her strong leadership skills, have earned her a reputation as a dynamic and visionary educational leader.
Monika’s leadership style is characterized by her exceptional work ethic, unwavering commitment, and forward-thinking approach. She is known for her ability to inspire and empower those around her, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Her dedication to ensuring that every student under her care receives the best possible education and support is at the heart of her professional ethos.

Jav Malik (DSL, Lumen Academy)
Jav Malik is a valued member of our Senior Leadership Team and will be taking on the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead at Lumen Academy. Having previously served the academy as a Health and Safety Representative, Jav now transitions into a role focused more directly on the welfare and safeguarding of our students. He is deeply committed to ensuring that every child at Lumen Academy is safe, supported and able to thrive in a secure and nurturing environment.
Through his growing relationship with pupils, as well as his patience and dedication in supporting in supporting both students and their families, Jav has naturally grown into this Lead DSL role. His approachable manner and consistent presence have helped build trust across the school community, enabling him to respond effectively and compassionately to the needs of those he supports.
Beyond his work at Lumen Academy, Jav’s dedicated service within the wider community is also highly commendable. His commitment, knowledge and experience are second to none, and the qualities are matched by the genuine care and compassion he demonstrates every day. Jav’s passion for safeguarding and wellbeing makes him an invaluable advocate for the pupils of Lumen Academy and we are confident he will continue to protect and support them with integrity and empathy
